Capital of Egypt, its monuments extend from the ancient Egyptian times, whilst Christian, Jewish and Moslem places of worship are all within close proximity of each other. Rural life in Egypt can still be seen in Cairo and you do not need to travel far to witness some of the rural agricultural activities which dates back to the ancient times and has survived into the modern age. It is not surprising when agricultural fields can be seen close to modern houses.
Modern Cairo is composed of high rise apartment buildings, together with governmental and non governmental offices all of which give Cairo the cosmopolitan nature of a country's capital.
