| Cruises |
| There are over a hundred cruise ships of
different categories and facilities cruising on the Nile between Luxor
and Aswan. A cruise on the Nile offers the traveller the opportunity
to relax enjoy the scenery not to mention the ability to visit the
sites in Luxor, Aswan and en route without the need to check-in and
check-out of hotels. The cruise serves as a floating hotel, a means
of transport and a relaxing base for visitors to the ancient sites
of Pharonic Egypt. |
 |
Cruise Duration:
There are several cruise programmes between Luxor and Aswan starting
from a minimum of four days/three nights. The most popular cruise
duration is four nights with some cruises offering six and seven night
itineraries. |
 |
Cruise categories and facilities:
Nile Cruises, like hotels, are categorized with a star rating ranging
from two to five stars. Even within the latter rating, the facilities
on board a cruise ship distinguish one five star cruise from another.
The most common facilities include: single, double and in some instances
triple standard cabins located on different levels of a cruise. On
some ships cabins are classified as superior or junior suites. All
cabins/suites have their own private facilities. A dinning room and
a bar are common to most cruises. A sun deck, a swimming pool, a Jacuzzi,
a gift shop and a hairdresser are also available on several of cruises. |
 |
Meal Basis and programme
content:
Accommodation on all cruises is based on full board for the duration
of the cruise journey. The programme of the cruise includes visits
to different sites in Luxor and Aswan and in between. Travellers are
accompanied by a guide whose services together with the entrance fees
are included in the cost of the cruise. |
 |
Sailing Dates and embarkation
points:
Sailing dates differ from one cruise to the other depending
on the duration of the cruise and the direction of the cruise from
Luxor to Aswan or vice versa. Six and seven night cruises are usually
Luxor to Aswan and back to Luxor. If the cruise starts from Aswan
it stops at Kom Ombo, Edfu and Luxor then it sails back to Aswan on
its reverse journey. It should be noted that you do not visit any
extra sights on the seven night cruise than you actually see on the
four nights. |
